What is light
Light is anything that makes us to see.We could also say is anything that drives away darkness.Light is a visible form of energy which is radiated outward from a source.
Light is a wave which doesn’t require material medium for its transfer. It travel best and faster through vacuum.
Light is a form of energy, energy is the capacity to do work. Thus, light can do work e.g light can cause the printer of a light meter to move light can cause photographic paper to darken. Light from a television set can damage your eyes if you stay too close to it.Green plant use sunlight to manufacture their food in the process called photosynthesis.
We provide ourselves with man made light such as electriclight ,gaslight, kerosine lamps etc
How light travel
When light falls on an object the light maybe
1Transmitted as it is in a sheet of glass
2 Reflected as in a mirror
3 Refracted as in a rectangular block prism or water
4 Absorb as in clothing material
Luminous and non luminous objects
Some objects produce their own light such objects are referred to as luminous objects e.g sun, stars, fire flies.Artificial self luminous are electric lamp, keros ker lamp candle light.Non luminous objects are those objects that can not produce their own light e.g moon light, reflected light from a mirror.
The path or direction through which light travel is called ray.The collection of rays called beam.
Divergent and convergent rays
When rays of light branched off in different directions from a common point is known as divergent but when rays of light come to the same point from different directions is known as convergent rays .
Torch light is an example of divergent ray
